ABOUT THE WORK

Jordan Marani’s limited edition print EGGS is a photograph of his local Brunswick (Melbourne) IGA supermarket. EGGS was shot by Marani in typically low-fi style on an iPhone 4. It is printed on Canson Platine Fibre Rag, an archival pigment print with a satin finish. This image was used as the cover of his recent book of personal photography (also available through VERSION), which encompassed recurrent images of cats, eggs, puns, hard rubbish, family and deep-fried foodstuffs.

ABOUT JORDAN MARANI

Jordan Marani makes darkly humourous work involving personal narratives, cynical observations of the human condition and an exploration of loss and the past. Through painting and sculpture employing bright colour, humour and word play, he explores the funny side of the dark side. From 2008-2011 Jordan was co-founder and director of Hell Gallery. His work has been exhibited at Tate Modern, the National Gallery of Victoria, Shepparton Art Museum, Static Gallery Liverpool, Switchback Gallery, 200 Gertrude Street, Daine Singer, Neon Parc, Utopian Slumps, Ryan Renshaw, Spring 1883, Ray Hughes Gallery, Powell Street Gallery and at ARIs including Death Be Kind, Inflight, Seventh, and West Space. In 2016 he exhibited at Ararat Regional Art Gallery, Daine Singer, SPRING 1883 and Spinnerei Leipzig, and undertook a public art project for ACCA. In 2017 he will undertake a residency in Germany at the Leipzig International Art Program.
